Lightning.News Collab

Just some notes for now.

clickforcharity.net and directsponsor.org are part of a new peer-to-peer charity system we are developing.

  • Regular sponsors use the Lightning Network to send their contributions directly to their recipients.
  • The site itself takes no revenue; 100% goes directly to the recipient.
  • The system ensures that there is no scam and provides the networking needed for sponsors and recipients to communicate.
  • The site is a social network with a real purpose.
  • Once the 2 pilot projects are fully working as examples, the system will be open source and available for anyone to download and use.

DirectSponsor is for the regular contributors, and ClickForCharity is for people to contribute without paying anything, by visiting the site (ad revenue, etc.) and/or by completing small tasks to earn sats for the projects.

Specifics

  • We can put a link in the footer of all pages to lightning.news, e.g., supported by.
  • Articles about the Namibia project can credit and link to lightning.news
  • We can ask visitors specifically to visit lightning.news (generally or any particular page)

PTC and PTP sites have a bad rep, but we will get users by having them go to another domain from where only those actually interested will visit ClickForCharity, so lightning.news will be at least 2 steps away from the “bad” traffic and only get interested visitors.

Lightning.news will get interesting articles about a new peer-to-peer charity system that uses the Lightning Network. If lightning.news goes further and has its own project:

  • One project (Namibia) could be made as a lightning.news project—funded by the visitors, perhaps by asking them to donate there and having a monthly target. We already have 50 euros a month being sent, so it’s already started.
  • In this case, the updates would be published on lightning.news and syndicated and linked from the ClickForCharity site instead of being published directly on ClickForCharity.
  • The news from this project can be promoted to bring links in to lightning.news as genuine news items, not as adverts, and can thus be put in places where normal adverts can’t.
